Softball Recap: Elkhorn Wins Going Away Against Waverly

After only one run in their last match, Elkhorn made sure to put some runs up on the board against Waverly on Saturday. The Antlers blew past the Vikings 10-2. The victory continues a trend for the Antlers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won four in a row.

Lina Aden made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, Karlie Villwok was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Ella Pearson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Elkhorn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Elkhorn now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Waverly, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season.

Elkhorn didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-0 loss against Gretna East on the 13th. As for Waverly, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 8-3 win against Bennington on the 13th.
