The Foothill Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight defeat. They were dealt a 65-36 loss at the hands of Canyon. While losing is never fun, Foothill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 690th, while the Comanches are ranked 206th).
Foothill's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jay Perez, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and two steals. Kaitlyn Wert was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Foothill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. This was only their 16th loss (out of 21 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Foothill has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season. As for Canyon, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11.
Foothill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Canyon also has no future games currently scheduled.
