Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Marshall's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Marshall won the last time they faced Mountain View and things went their way on Monday too. The Eagles put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Caleb Thatcher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Marshall let Adan Castro and Trevor Lain run wild. Castro scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Lain scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Castro has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Callaway, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Marshall has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
