On Tuesday, Pinecrest Academy got the win against Young Americans Christian by a conclusive 20-1. The Paladins have beaten the Eagles the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.
Mathew Sime and Liam McCavitt were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Sime tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, McCavitt pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Sime posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. At bat, Sime scored a run while going 2-for-2, while McCavitt scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dominic Kellner, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Mitchell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Pinecrest Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Young Americans Christian only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Johnson Ferry Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 8-0 to Lanier Christian Academy on Monday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.
