Softball Recap: Columbus Wins Going Away Against Hardaway

Columbus won the last time they faced Hardaway and things went their way on Thursday too. The Blue Devils blew past the Hawks 13-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Addi Hart made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Columbus got a big performance out of Carley Mayhew, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave Mayhew a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mya Wiggins, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Columbus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Columbus' record is now 10-13. As for Hardaway, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.

Coming up, Columbus will take on Cairo in a tournament on Saturday. As for Hardaway, they are taking a road trip to challenge Calvary Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
