The Lafayette Generals pushed their score all the way to 64 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to Montgomery County. Lafayette lost against Montgomery County in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 66-64 score last time.
Breccan Decker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Montgomery County, scoring 22 points. Decker also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Tyce Jarvis was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Lafayette's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Montgomery County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lafayette will stay at home for another game and welcome Tates Creek at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th. Tates Creek has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28. As for Montgomery County, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Frederick Douglass at 8:00 p.m. Frederick Douglass knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Montgomery County likes a good challenge.
