For the second straight game, Woodland Christian will face off against Mesa Verde. The Cardinals will host the Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Woodland Christian knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Mesa Verde likes a good challenge.
Woodland Christian's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Mesa Verde with a sharp 11-0 win. Considering the Cardinals have won 18 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jordan Villanueva made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Villanueva was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Tessier, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Parker Howald, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Woodland Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matches.
Woodland Christian's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mesa Verde, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Woodland Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mesa Verde struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
