The Chavez Titans entered their tilt with the Taft Wildcats with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Chavez came out on top against Taft by a score of 52-41 on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Chavez also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Chavez was led to victory by Alyssa Ramos and Hannah Diaz. Ramos scored eight points along with nine rebounds, while Diaz scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Diaz hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Emma Robles, who scored six points.
When it comes to explaining why Taft lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shelby Gregory. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gregory has scored all season. Alaysia Taylor was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals and two blocks.
Chavez has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Taft, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.
Chavez will be playing in front of their home fans against Kennedy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chavez is facing Kennedy at the right time seeing as Kennedy is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Taft, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wasco at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Taft focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday.
