Summerville has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Venture Academy Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Summerville ended up a good deal behind Amador and lost 45-26.
Venture Academy suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Elliot Christian by a score of 51-49. Venture Academy has not had much luck with Elliot Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Venture Academy got a solid performance out of Jz Lawrence, who dropped a triple-double on 21 points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals. That's the first time this season that Lawrence pulled down eight or more rebounds. Kelyiana Neal was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Venture Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elliot Christian only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Summerville bumped their record down to 8-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Venture Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
