Oceanside and Carlsbad are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Oceanside Pirates will be playing at home against the Carlsbad Lancers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Oceanside struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Tuesday (Torrey Pines was 21% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Oceanside took a 42-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Torrey Pines. Oceanside has struggled against Torrey Pines recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Oceanside saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nalia Nuanez, who scored 11 points along with four steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Kaye, who scored ten points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Carlsbad had to settle for a 42-39 defeat against Sage Creek on Tuesday.
Oceanside's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Carlsbad, their loss dropped their record down to 15-12.
Oceanside beat Carlsbad 47-35 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Oceanside repeat their success, or does Carlsbad have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
