The Christian Brothers Falcons and the Salpointe Catholic Lancers will round out the year against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Wednesday, Christian Brothers humbled Sheldon with a 68-20 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-16.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Christian Brothers to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joy Omishakin, who scored 15 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. The match was Omishakin's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Journey Williams-Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Salpointe Catholic scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 71-34 win over Tucson High Magnet School on the road. Given Salpointe Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Tucson High Magnet School is ranked 112th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hannah Williams was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Allison Even, who scored ten points.
Christian Brothers' win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Salpointe Catholic, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Christian Brothers hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 60.4 points per game. It's a different story for Salpointe Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 53.1 points per game. The only thing between Christian Brothers and another offensive beatdown is Salpointe Catholic. Will they be able to keep them contained?
