Air Academy put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Rocky Mountain Lobos by a score of 10-7. While the Kadets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Bailey Williams made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Williams was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keira Finkle, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Finkle, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Air Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rocky Mountain only posted a batting average of .286.
Air Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Rocky Mountain, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-7.
Looking ahead, Air Academy will square off against Discovery Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rocky Mountain, they will take on Longmont in a tournament on Saturday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.45 runs per game on average), something the Lobos will no doubt try to take advantage of.
