The Grand Junction Tigers will square off against the Vista Ridge Wolves at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Grand Junction has ten straight wins, Vista Ridge has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Grand Junction is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Fruita Monument, who was ranked 14th at the time (Grand Junction was ranked 19th). The Tigers beat the Wildcats last Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-3.

Kloe Donahue spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Alexis Walpole was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alysa Lorimor, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Mesa Ridge hit Vista Ridge with a five-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolves lost 12-6 to the Grizzlies. While the Wolves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Grizzlies 5-0 in the first period.
Delaney Hamilton was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelynn Kalkman, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Grand Junction's victory bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Vista Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.
Vista Ridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Grand Junction has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Vista Ridge, though, as they've been averaging only 2.7 strikeouts. Will Grand Junction keep running through batters, or will the Wolves buck the trend?
Grand Junction might still be hurting after the 17-1 loss they got from Vista Ridge in their previous matchup back in August of 2019. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
