Adelanto has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Granite Hills Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Granite Hills took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Adelanto, who comes in off a win.
Adelanto posted their biggest win yet this season on Thursday. They breezed by Barstow at home to the tune of 73-31. Given Adelanto's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 460th, while Barstow is ranked 974th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Heavenly Alexander and Nina Lacy were among the main playmakers for Adelanto as the former scored 19 points along with six steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Alexander continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Jamiya Cantrell was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Granite Hills suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were dealt a 81-25 defeat at the hands of Silverado. Granite Hills was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-13.
Adelanto's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Granite Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Everything came up roses for Adelanto against Granite Hills in their previous matchup on January 4th as the team secured a 61-22 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Adelanto since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
