The East Union Lancers will head out on the road to challenge the Patterson Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
Things were looking good for East Union after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 10-6 to Central Catholic.
Peyton Heath made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Jackson Fay was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, Patterson beat Central Valley 8-4 on Friday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Max Medina and Cole Medina were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Medina tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cole tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Max also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Patterson is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. At bat, Medina scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Cole scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Caden Lozano was incredible, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
Patterson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Valley only posted a batting average of .214.
East Union's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-6. As for Patterson, their record is now 6-4.
East Union skirted past Patterson 1-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Union since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
