Breayra Lampley made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Lampley is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Janye Gibson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, Hazelwood East came into Tuesday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over Normandy on Tuesday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 13 runs or more this season.
Aja Wallace was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Wallace was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Jamarre Thomas was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Taylor Turner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
Hazelwood East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Normandy only posted a batting average of .231.
Riverview Gardens' defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Hazelwood East, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Riverview Gardens has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hazelwood East struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 14.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
