The Roanoke Catholic Celtics's ten-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fishburne Military 82-51 on the road. Roanoke Catholic's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Roanoke Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Demarcus Brown out in front who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Brown is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Johnson, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Fishburne Military lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Devin Charles, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Giovanni Belisle, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds.
Roanoke Catholic's win bumped their record up to 2-10. As for Fishburne Military, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.
Roanoke Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Cross at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. North Cross presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Roanoke Catholic in Virginia (North Cross is ranked 130th, while Roanoke Catholic is ranked 293rd). As for Fishburne Military, they will head out on the road to face off against New Covenant at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in New Covenant's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Fishburne Military has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
