Last Saturday, St. Joseph faced the Wolves in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. Joseph ended up on the wrong side of a tough 60-35 walloping at the hands of the Wolves. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points St. Joseph has scored all season.
Despite their loss, St. Joseph saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Avary Cain, who scored 12 points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 34.3% of St. Joseph's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Annalyssa Cota, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Nipomo's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 12th straight defeat. They were dealt a 70-27 loss at the hands of Righetti. Nipomo has struggled against the Warriors recently, as their game on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
St. Joseph's loss dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Nipomo, their loss dropped their record down to 3-20.
Everything came up roses for St. Joseph against the Titans in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 112-10 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Joseph since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
