Cochranton is 3-0 against Rocky Grove since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Cochranton Cardinals will be home for the holidays to greet the Rocky Grove Orioles at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cochranton had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Union City 53-37 on Thursday. Cochranton's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Cochranton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shelby McBryar out in front who scored 20 points. That's the first time this season that McBryar scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eve Pfeiffer, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds.
Even though Rocky Grove has not done well against Commodore Perry recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Rocky Grove pulled ahead with a 33-32 photo finish over Commodore Perry.
Cochranton's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Rocky Grove, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-0.
Everything came up roses for Cochranton against Rocky Grove when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 48-8 victory. With Cochranton ahead 34-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
