The Centennial Coyotes can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 50-39 win over Central. The victory was just what Centennial needed coming off of a 60-36 loss in their prior match.
Centennial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Akasha Prpich, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleia Young, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Central still got an impressive performance from Lia Sims, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 17 rebounds. That was a full 64.1% of Central's points, marking the 25th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Centennial's win ended a 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-15. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-15.
Centennial will head out on the road to square off against the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Arizona (Apollo is ranked 187th, while the Coyotes are ranked 179th). As for Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Stampede at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
