The East Rutherford Cavaliers posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 79-52 win over Polk County at home. With East Rutherford ahead 47-22 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Rutherford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jj Arrowood, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Grant Adkins was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Polk County saw an underclassman step up: Gunnar Alm scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 46.2% of Polk County's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lawson Carter, who scored seven points along with six assists and six rebounds.
East Rutherford pushed their record up to 10-8 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for Polk County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Coincidentally, East Rutherford and Polk County will both be playing Brevard the next time they take the court. Polk County will head out to face Brevard at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while East Rutherford will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
