Durango hasn't had much luck against Fruita Monument recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Demons will head out on the road to take on the Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. Durango is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Durango got the win against Eagle Valley by a conclusive 16-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Demons.
Jenna Glueck made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Avery Clair was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Marcela Jimenez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run.
Durango always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Fruita Monument didn't have quite enough to beat Palisade on Wednesday and fell 7-6.
Lauren Englehart made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Emma Lara was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Fruita Monument's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 15-4. As for Durango, their record now sits at 9-7.
Durango came up short against Fruita Monument in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Demons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
