The Monessen Greyhounds can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 59-37 margin over Avella. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Monessen.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monessen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hailey Johnson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 26 rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 11 games she's played. Sidney Campbell was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
When it comes to explaining why Avella lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ava Frank. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That was a full 59.5% of Avella's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Avella struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They are winless (0-5) when they just don't pass the ball.
Monessen has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Avella, they dropped their record down to 4-18 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Monessen will take on Washington at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Washington will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Monessen surely won't give up without a fight. Avella does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
