Kings Mountain's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was La'Zya Byrd, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Byrd a new career-high in assists (four). Isabella Symonds also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
Kings Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Forestview lost to Ashbrook on the road by a 66-52 margin on Friday.
Kings Mountain will have to keep a close watch on Sa'Ryah McCorkle and Miangel Thompson, a pair of players who had a big impact on Forestview's prior game. McCorkle dropped a double-double with 19 points and 18 rebounds, while Thompson posted 16 points and five boards. McCorkle is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Molly Forgan, who scored four points and six boards.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-20. As for Forestview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Kings Mountain has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Forestview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Kings Mountain might still be hurting after the 55-34 defeat they got from Forestview in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of McCorkle, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 17 rebounds.
