El Paso-Gridley extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 9-19. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cornerstone Christian Cyclones. That's two games in a row now that the Titans have lost by just one run.
El Paso-Gridley saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Garrels, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Elliott Toth was another, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.
As for Cornerstone Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 28, 2025.
On Cornerstone Christian's side, Jack Kursell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Kursell also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cornerstone Christian is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-15 otherwise. Kursell was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Kursell, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Josiah McCullough, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Coming up, El Paso-Gridley will host Olympia at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cornerstone Christian, they will challenge Fisher at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cyclones' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bunnies have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
