Bonita Vista has enjoyed a six-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Grossmont Foothillers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Grossmont took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Bonita Vista, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Bonita Vista strolled past Francis Parker with points to spare, taking the game 55-39.
Mahliya Wilson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shania White, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Grossmont was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 57-51 to Helix. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Grossmont came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Helix is ranked 395th).
Bonita Vista's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10. As for Grossmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.
Everything came up roses for Bonita Vista against Grossmont when the teams last played back in January of 2016 as the squad secured a 75-39 win. With Bonita Vista ahead 38-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
