Bell Gardens has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Montebello Oilers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bell Gardens focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
Last Friday, Bell Gardens was able to grind out a solid victory over Alhambra, taking the game 63-52.
Bell Gardens' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karen Ramirez led the charge by scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Ramirez is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Deanna Moore was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Montebello's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a tough 52-31 defeat at the hands of Schurr. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Montebello has suffered against Schurr since February 4, 2020.
Bell Gardens now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Montebello, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Bell Gardens against Montebello in their previous meeting on January 5th as the squad secured a 61-11 win. With Bell Gardens ahead 38-3 at the half, the game was all but over already.
