Eldon is 1-6 against Russellville since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Eldon took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Dixon 11-1. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Kimber Connell made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Atwell, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Valarie Gozho-Majoni was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Eldon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Russellville earned a 14-10 victory over Iberia on Monday.
Karsyn Duncan was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Callee Smith, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Russellville has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Eldon, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eldon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Russellville struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eldon suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Russellville in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
