The Beddingfield Bruins will head out to take on the Ayden - Grifton Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Beddingfield's offense hasn't had much luck over their past three games, but Friday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.
Beddingfield's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Farmville Central on Friday. They took a blow against the Jaguars, falling 42-0.
Meanwhile, Ayden - Grifton hadn't done well against Kinston recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Chargers walked away with a 33-21 victory over the Vikings. With that win, the Chargers brought their scoring average up to 28.2 points per game.
Beddingfield better keep an eye on Nygel Morgan. He was instrumental in Ayden - Grifton's win, picking up 111 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while also punching in one touchdown on the ground. Morgan has become a key player for the Chargers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 receiving yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Sean Pollard handled things on the ground, rushing for 101 yards.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Ayden - Grifton proved: they limited Kinston to a paltry -1.3 yards per carry. While five picked up at least one total tackle, Morgan stood above the rest. He picked up 111 receiving yards and two TDs, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Ayden - Grifton's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.9.
Ayden - Grifton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Morgan, EJ Ruffin, and Brandon Prayer picked up one apiece. Morgan got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Ayden - Grifton pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.3 points over those games. As for Beddingfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Beddingfield beat Ayden - Grifton 34-27 in their previous matchup back in September of 2022. Will the Bruins repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
