It was a good run, but the Antelope Valley Antelopes unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. Their rough 78-56 defeat to Eastside might stick with them for a while. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Antelope Valley still got an impressive performance from Niya Price, who scored 32 points. That was a full 57.1% of Antelope Valley's points, marking the 13th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lacei Brown, who scored nine points.
Antelope Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Eastside, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Antelope Valley will take on Quartz Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Quartz Hill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 643rd, while Antelope Valley is ranked 321st). As for Eastside, they will play host again and welcome Palmdale, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
