Basketball Recap: Pleasant Valley Piles Up the Points Against Downey

Pleasant Valley posted their biggest win since December 7, 2024 on Saturday. They breezed by the Downey Knights to the tune of 57-23. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2018.

Pleasant Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lucas Bensen, who posted ten points along with seven boards and three steals. Keith Thompson was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Pleasant Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Downey only racked up five assists.

Despite the defeat, Downey saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kayden Mcdonald put up eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelio Cardoso, who had six points.

Pleasant Valley's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Downey, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Pleasant Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-43 win against Venture Academy on the 30th. As for Downey, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 64-39 loss against Manteca on the 30th.
