Baseball Recap: Brantley County Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Brantley County got themselves on the board against Berrien on Friday, but Berrien never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 14-0 win. This was a revenge game for the Herons: when they faced off against the Rebels on Friday, they had to take a 6-3 defeat.

Kaden Hendrix made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brantley County got a massive performance out of Gaven Grafford, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave Grafford a new career-high. Carson Coger was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Brantley County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berrien didn't got any hits.

Brantley County's victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-15. As for Berrien, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brantley County will welcome Worth County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Worth County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Brantley County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Berrien, they will host Cook at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cook will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
