Basketball Recap: Central Snags Ninth Win in Last 11 Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Central faced off against Jonesboro on Tuesday. The Central Lions secured a 62-57 W over the Jonesboro Cardinals. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Messiah Boykin, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 21 points and four steals. Those 21 points gave Boykin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Khaven Cochran, who went 7 for 16 en route to 17 points and five steals.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cortez Redding, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Calvin Goss was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Central is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Jonesboro, they moved to 7-5 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
