The Eastlake Falcons suffered their closest loss since December 29, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of Franklin by a score of 56-53. Eastlake has not had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaron Vargas, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lucas Brandon, who scored 13 points.
Even though they lost, Eastlake were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin only racked up eight assists.
Darion Mitchell was a one-man wrecking crew for Franklin as he scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mitchell has scored all season. Jazhiel Herrera was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Eastlake's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-13. As for Franklin, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Pebble Hills the next time they take the court. Franklin will head out to face Pebble Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Eastlake will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
