Video: Viral star didn't let 5th grade get him downSee the Arkansas senior exploit defenses, years after he made national news as a youth superstar.Demias Jimerson was one of the most viral youth football players in recent memory.
Back in 2011, the 11-year-old phenom was literally too good for his peers. Arkansas league officials invoked the ''Madre Hill Rule" (named after Arkansas Razorbacks superstar Madre Hill) that banned Jimerson from scoring in fifth and sixth grade if he already scored three touchdowns and his team was ahead by at least 14 points.
Now, the
Malvern (Ark.) senior is still running circles around defenses.
The 5-foot-11, 171-pound dual-threat quarterback posted 1,280 passing yards, 714 rushing yards and 25 total touchdowns last season on offense. Jimerson also logged 17 tackles, two fumble recoveries, one interception and one defensive touchdown at cornerback.
"He's truly a special talent," head coach Mike Scarbrough said. "He's an absolutely tremendous runner. He just picks a hole and goes. It's like backyard football, and you never know what he'll do next. There is no doubt that he's our guy and we'll go as far as he takes us this year. He doesn't hold any Division I offers, but he's generating significant interest."
Jimerson might be even more talented on the baseball diamond. He batted a team-high .457 with 42 hits, 26 RBIs and 14 stolen bases last year. The pitcher also owned a respectable 8-2 mark with a 1.46 ERA in leading the Leopards to the Arkansas Class 4A state semifinals.
Oh, and the do-it-all star earned All-State honors in basketball as well.
"He's a great athlete and an even better kid," Scarbrough said.
