The Grossmont Foothillers will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Bishop's Knights at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Grossmont has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Mt. Carmel 77-29 on the road. Given Grossmont's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Mt. Carmel is ranked 849th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grossmont's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dahlia Blake , who scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aakash Price, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds and 7 steals.
Meanwhile, Bishop's entered their tilt with San Diego with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Bishop's simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat San Diego 65-24 at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-16.
Bishop's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Margo Leong, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Leong hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Ayla Johnson, who scored 16 points along with 3 steals.
Grossmont's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Bishop's, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Grossmont haven't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 0 turnovers per game. It's a different story for Bishop's, though, as they've been averaging 13.3 per game. Given Grossmont's sizeable advantage in that area, Bishop's will need to find a way to close that gap.
