Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Franklin County). They put the hurt on Crossroad Academy with a sharp 22-1 win on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Seahawks, who have now won three games in a row.
Chason Martina made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other pitching news, Brennan Cook looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Sadiq Jones was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Johnson, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.
Franklin County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Franklin County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Blountstown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
