The Newark Memorial Cougars suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were outmatched by Moreau Catholic on the road and fell 77-26. Newark Memorial has not had much luck with Moreau Catholic recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Newark Memorial lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sydney Scott, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Baca, who scored nine points.
Madeline Bader was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with five assists and two steals for Moreau Catholic. Another player making a difference was Elisa Ortega, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Newark Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Moreau Catholic, they pushed their record up to 10-9 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newark Memorial on the road again on Wednesday and play against American at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Moreau Catholic, they will take on James Logan at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. James Logan is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
