The Eastlake Titans lost against the Grossmont Foothillers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Eastlake took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grossmont. While losing is never fun, Eastlake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while Grossmont is ranked 65th).
Despite the loss, Eastlake saw an underclassman step up: Jordyn Worley dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Worley has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jada White, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Eastlake now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Grossmont, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
Eastlake is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Otay Ranch at 1:30 p.m. on December 27th. Hopefully Otay Ranch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. Grossmont will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Centennial at 5:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
