Gunnison had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped down to 4-6 to make it four. They lost 17-4 to the Cedaredge Bruins. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 on Saturday.
Kaylee Vincent and Caroline Sudderth did some serious damage despite the final result: Vincent went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Sudderth went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
As for Cedaredge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Considering they have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
On Cedaredge's side, Tia Homedew made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Homedew has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Meri Hollembeak was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024. Emery Stirnkorb was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Coming up, Gunnison will take on Delta at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 11.5 runs per game this season. As for Cedaredge, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 18-0 victory against Aspen on the 8th.
