Etna is on a three-game streak of home losses, Mt. Shasta a 12-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Etna Lions will take on the Mt. Shasta Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Etna suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 56-35 walloping at the hands of Weed. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Etna in their matchups with Weed: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, Mt. Shasta suffered a rough 43-23 defeat at the hands of Modoc on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Mt. Shasta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1162nd, while Modoc is ranked 283rd).
Etna has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Mt. Shasta, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-17.
Etna strolled past Mt. Shasta in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 39-22. Does Etna have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Shasta turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
