Cate hasn't had much luck against Bishop Diego recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rams will welcome the Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cate has six straight victories, Bishop Diego has 19 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Cate is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Santa Clara with a sharp 20-3 win on Tuesday. Considering the Rams have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Peter Lehman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cate let Noah Casbarro and Quinn Pullen run wild. Casbarro went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Pullen went 1-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Pullen has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Andrew Tanner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Cate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Clara only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, Bishop Diego came up short against Thacher on Thursday, falling 16-4.
Cate pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Diego, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
Cate took their victory against Bishop Diego when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-1 score. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
