The Orangewood Academy Spartans entered their tilt with the Brentwood School Eagles with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Orangewood Academy snuck past the Eagles with a 61-56 victory on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Ndeye Astou Ndiaye went supernova for Orangewood Academy, scoring 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ndiaye has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Vivian Grenald, who scored 12 points.
Brentwood School lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lev Feiman, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Feiman has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Payton Sugar, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Orangewood Academy pushed their record up to 20-6 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.9 points per game. As for Brentwood School, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-8.
Orangewood Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Tritons at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st. Hopefully Pacifica Christian/Orange County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday. As for Brentwood School, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Windward knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully the Eagles likes a good challenge.
