Montezuma-Cortez and Delta are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2020, but likely not for long. Montezuma-Cortez will head out to face off against Delta at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Montezuma-Cortez has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Montezuma-Cortez is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Saturday. They came up short against Rifle, falling 13-4.
Montezuma-Cortez saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raegan Veach, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Delta made sure to put some runs up on the board against Basalt on Monday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Longhorns with a sharp 16-1 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Delta got a massive performance out of Jaidyn Robinson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Robinson a new career-high. Olivia Hines was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Delta has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Montezuma-Cortez, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Montezuma-Cortez has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Delta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Montezuma-Cortez suffered a grim 24-14 defeat to Delta in their previous meeting back in August. Can Montezuma-Cortez avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
