The Laytonville Warriors had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a rough 65-16 loss at the hands of Willits. Laytonville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.
Willits was led to victory by Cecily Potter and Hazel Cooke. Potter dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 steals, while Cooke dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Potter has scored at least 25% of Willits' points. Mia Chavez was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 3 steals.
Laytonville's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Willits, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Laytonville will head out on the road to face off against Calistoga on December 7th. As for Willits, they will take on Arcata at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Arcata presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Willits in California (Arcata is ranked 164th, while Willits is ranked 813th).
