The Purchase Line Red Dragons will head out on the road to square off against the Conemaugh Township Indians at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Purchase Line has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
Purchase Line suffered their biggest defeat yet this season last Friday. They were dealt a 60-25 defeat at the hands of Homer-Center. Purchase Line was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.
Purchase Line's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Anna Layden, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Brooklyn Syster who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Conemaugh Township scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ferndale 50-23 on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-12.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Conemaugh Township to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ashlyn Fetterman, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and five steals. Fetterman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Kaitlyn Wiley was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Purchase Line bumped their record down to 2-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Conemaugh Township, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's match: Purchase Line have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 30.1% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Conemaugh Township, though, as they've only made 25.8% of their threes per game this season. Given Purchase Line's sizeable advantage in that area, Conemaugh Township will need to find a way to close that gap.
Purchase Line came up short against Conemaugh Township in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 41-36. Thankfully for Purchase Line, Mya Poznanski (who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
