The Newark Memorial Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They breezed by Mt. Pleasant at home to the tune of 74-25. The win was some much needed relief for Newark Memorial as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Leading Newark Memorial to victory were Angelina Baca and Sydney Scott. Baca scored 17 points, while Scott scored 20 points. That's the first time this season that Baca scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalia Chalov, who scored six points.
Newark Memorial's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-3. As for Mt. Pleasant, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Newark Memorial will play host again and welcome Overfelt, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Overfelt is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will head out on the road to face off against Santa Clara at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Santa Clara presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mt. Pleasant in California (Santa Clara is ranked 136th, while Mt. Pleasant is ranked 1204th).
