The Monterey Plainsmen will head out on the road to challenge the Abilene Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monterey has given up an average of 31 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Despite their loss, Monterey saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Quarren Q Boyd, who picked up 169 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Jonah Reed was another key player, having thrown for 272 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Abilene had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 24-6 win over the Rebels. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since August 27, 2021, but that streak is no more.
Abilene didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jordan Brown and Charles Meeks. Brown also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six. Demaurcs Reid was another major factor on D, making 17 total tackles.
Monterey's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Abilene, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Monterey strolled past Abilene in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 31-17. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Eagles' Tristan Beal, who threw for 222 yards and two TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes.
