The Liberty Bison will square off against the Hillcrest Trojans at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Liberty barely beat Arlington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bison blew past the Lions 12-4 on Friday. The Bison might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Brooklyn Rackstraw spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Julianna Larson and Savannah Oelrich did most of the damage at the plate: Larson fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3, while Oelrich went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Yasmine Lopez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hillcrest). They never let University Prep get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
X-Ziary Zambrano was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Liberty's record is now 8-2. As for Hillcrest, their record now sits at 10-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Liberty has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Hillcrest struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Liberty might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Hillcrest in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can the Bison avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
