Bonny Eagle is 1-9 against Thornton Academy since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Scots will face off against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m.
Bonny Eagle made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Falmouth, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Scots fell just short of the Navigators by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Scots have suffered since May 3, 2025.
Caleb Racicot was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.
At the plate, Bonny Eagle saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Humphrey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Thornton Academy waltzed into their game on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Rams. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Thornton Academy also got a great performance from Beck Edgerly as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Edgerly has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Parker Bjorklund was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Dominic Hussey, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Thornton Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.
Bonny Eagle's loss dropped their record down to 9-6-1. As for Thornton Academy, their record now sits at 9-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bonny Eagle hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Thornton Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bonny Eagle couldn't quite get it done against Thornton Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 as they fell 7-2. Can the Scots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
